Andrew Broadley, fondly known as Andy B, studied 3D Design and Space Planning at the Reading College of Arts and Design and spent his early career designing retail interiors, as well as bars and restaurants, before joining the team at bulthaup Mayfair in March 2010.
Andy draws inspiration for his designs from a diverse range of works by the likes of Mies van de Rohe, Santiago Calatrava, and Herzog de Mueon & Tado Ando amongst others.
Like many of our designers, Andy has a passion for precise design details and functionality which fuels his enthusiasm for the bulthaup product as the bulthaup philosophy and approach to design closely echo his own ethos.
One of Andy’s favourite projects to date was a new build project in Surrey. The client wanted a bespoke stainless steel ‘monobloc’ island at an incredible length of 4.6 metres. The monobloc had to be delivered in one piece so meant that the entire project had to be precisely designed and meticulously planned to ensure that it was executed smoothly. The result was another spectacularly designed bulthaup kitchen and a delighted client.
Looking to the future, Andy believes that it is the incredible rate at which technology is advancing that will continue to have the biggest influence on our approach to design as it continues to alter the traditional way in which we both live our lives and perform our daily tasks.
